No wonder my roommate keeps eating bone soup

🦴 Hanmaru: Allston’s Must-Try Korean Spine Stew—Huge Portions, Cozy Flavors Lived up to the hype! This Allston spot serves hearty, comforting Korean stew that’s perfect for cold days—and the portions are insane. 🔥 The Star: Set B ($43 pre-tip) Spine Stew: 🥘 Four massive pork spine pieces, loaded with tender meat and chewy cartilage—so tender, you can easily pull the bones apart to suck every last bit of flavor. The broth is mild spicy (not fiery), rich, and savory, with a depth that comes from slow simmering. Fixings: Packed with veggies—potatoes, tofu, cabbage, bean sprouts, and what tasted like pea shoots—all soak up the broth beautifully. We added fish cakes and ramen noodles (smart move—they get deliciously slippery in the sauce). Bonus: Two bowls of rice (though it’s lukewarm, not hot) and six banchan (side dishes)—all tasty (kimchi, pickled radish, spinach, etc.). Easily the most generous banchan spread I’ve had at an Allston Korean spot. 💸 Value & Vibe Portion: Easily feeds 4—we left with two huge takeout containers. For $43 (after tax + tip), it’s a steal. Comfort Factor: Warm, satisfying, and perfect for sharing. The mild spice makes it accessible, even for non-spicy eaters. Only tiny gripe: The rice is lukewarm. But with stew this good? Who cares. 📍 Hanmaru 168 Harvard Ave, Allston, MA 02134 #AllstonEats #KoreanComfortFood #BostonKorean
