NOLA | 3-Day New Orleans Trip: Honest Reviews 🥂🍩🎷

There’s a famous local saying here: “Laissez le bon temps rouler” — Let the good times roll. And that’s exactly what this trip was all about. 🦞 Drago’s Seafood Restaurant → Highly Recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ → Their Charbroiled Oysters are absolute stars! The charred, smoky flavor lingers on your palate all day—you’ll keep craving that grilled goodness long after the meal. → Lobster Marco 🧍‍♂️: Even if you’re not a fan of creamy dishes (like me!), you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The richness is perfectly balanced, never overpowering the sweet, tender lobster meat. 🍩 Café Du Monde → Recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ → The iconic Beignets? Here’s our take: 🧍‍♀️: Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside—like a sweet, powdered-sugar-dusted churro, but lighter! 🧍‍♂️: Tastes just like Wuhan’s “crispy dumplings” —a fun cross-cultural flavor match! → Don’t miss the Frozen Café Au Lait: It’s like a mocha Frappuccino, slightly sweet and so refreshing—perfect for beating the heat. → Heads up: The restaurant is semi-outdoor, so it gets really hot. But the street jazz musicians playing nearby? They turn the sweat into part of the vibe—you’ll barely notice the heat with that music in the air 🎶. 🤹‍♀️ Wandering Bourbon & Royal Streets → These two streets are NOLA’s heart for people-watching and window-shopping! → 🧍‍♀️: We stopped by Kezic Gallery—wow, the vintage pieces there are stunning, but way out of our budget. Their “Vintage 329” collection has rare (second-hand) Chanel and Dior accessories, but most styles are too fancy for everyday wear—great for admiring, though! 🍹 Sazerac House → Recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ → Pro tip: Book your spot a few hours in advance—walk-ins often have to wait! → The highlight is the 3-drink tasting flight: You get to try Sazerac cocktails made with Whisky, Rum, and Gin. Each has a unique mix of bitter, sweet, and sour notes—perfect for figuring out your favorite base spirit. → There’s a massive wall lined with bottles of alcohol—it’s the photo op spot here. Snap a pic with it, and your feed will thank you 📸. 🎺 Preservation Hall → Recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ → This is a legendary spot for classic jazz—no frills, just pure music. We booked tickets a week early and still only got standing room—so book as soon as you can! → Fair warning: No air conditioning. It gets warm and cozy (read: sweaty), but once the band starts playing, you’ll forget all about it. The musicians love interacting with the crowd—they even called out audience members for impromptu sing-alongs. The energy here is unbeatable! 🎶 Mahogany Jazz Hall → Highly Recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ → This was our favorite spot of the entire trip! The live jazz here is next-level—we listened to two different bands and stayed for nearly 3 hours (we didn’t want to leave!). → Only downside: The drinks aren’t great. But who cares when the music is this good? Grab a beer, sit back, and let the jazz wrap around you—pure magic ✨. ☕️ Cafe Beignet → Stop by if you’re nearby ⭐️⭐️⭐️ → Compared to Café Du Monde, this spot is way quieter—and it has air conditioning (a huge win on a hot NOLA day!). → The Beignets here are thicker and more dense. Our thoughts: 🧍‍♀️: Love the calm vibe, and the beignets are satisfying if you want something heartier. 🧍‍♂️: Honestly, not much different from other beignets—and they don’t have the Frozen Café Au Lait, which was a bummer. 🪖 The National WWII Museum → Highly Recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ → This museum is a must-visit—don’t skip it! The 4D show “Beyond All Boundaries” is incredible: the 4D effects (wind, vibrations) make you feel like you’re right in the middle of history. → Warning: There are multiple exhibition halls, and 2.5 hours is nowhere near enough to see everything. Plan to spend at least 4 hours here—you’ll want to take your time reading, watching, and absorbing all the stories. 🦀 Big EZ Seafood and Oyster → Not Recommended ⭐️⭐️ → We booked a table in advance, and there were plenty of seats for lunch—no wait, which was nice. But that’s where the positives end. → The shrimp and crab were fresh, but not as fresh as the ones we had at Hot N Cajun. Also, the menu doesn’t have any 2-person combos—you have to order everything a la carte, which was inconvenient. Overall, it fell way below our expectations 😕. At the end of the day, NOLA isn’t just about checking off spots—it’s about embracing Joie de vivre (the joy of living). It’s sipping a cold drink while jazz plays, eating beignets covered in sugar, and letting the city’s laid-back energy wrap around you. That’s the real magic of this place 🍹🥂. #NewOrleans #NOLATravelGuide #100WaystoExploreaCity #USATravel
