Norway đłđ´ | A Not-So-Complete Food Guide
đ Oslo Fiskeriet Youngstorget This place is an internet-famous spot. On the first day, the lobsters in the window display immediately caught my eyeâwhat seafood lover wouldnât be tempted? However, the restaurantâs ambiance is pretty basicâtight space where servers keep bumping into customers, and the service is just okay. We originally wanted the seafood platter, but they were out of snow crab. Ended up ordering lobster đŚ, salmon tataki, codfish balls, and fish roe. Everything was great except the roe (Iâm still traumatized by Europeâs heavy cream flavorsâjust canât get used to it). The rest? Highly recommended! đ Oslo Seaport Restaurant The dining experience here was much better. Lots of locals come here after work for dates and a romantic, slightly tipsy evening. By 7 PM, the place was packed. We ordered fish soup, grilled salmon, and oysters đŚŞ. I never liked grilled salmon before, but this place changed my mindâthe texture was firm yet tender, not dry at all. The fish soup was rich and loaded with ingredients, but again, the creaminess wasnât for me (though my travel buddy loved it). The oysters were tasty but a bit smallâleft me wanting more. đ SvolvĂŚr Bacalao This restaurant was the highlight of our Norway food journeyâmy Chinese taste buds were in love! Named after its signature dish, Bacalao, itâs packed with dense, flavorful dried cod in a warm, tomato-based broth. I finished the soup before the fish! We also tried the grilled codâperfect except for the cream sauce (if you like creamy fish soup, go for it). The mussels were fresh and not fishy at allâjust add a squeeze of lemon. The "shrimp sandwich" was confusingâbasically the same as supermarket shrimp, so if youâre budget-conscious, just buy them by the pound at the store. đ Tromsø Cocorico Located near Tromsøâs souvenir street, we found this place randomly on Google Maps. It was a quick stop before our Northern Lights chase (they open at 4 PM). The owner recommended two burgersâcheese beef and black truffle beefâboth delicious, but I preferred the cheeseburger. đ Tromsø Balsfjordvinden Bus Stop Canât remember the name, but itâs near the bus stop âŹď¸. If youâre staying nearby, try their salami pizzaâwe also had No. 21, but it wasnât as good. Bonus: Cinnamon Rolls! You canât go to Scandinavia without trying one. We tried the highly recommended W.B. Samson, but it was way too sweetâno wonder locals pair it with coffee. The one in the photo was a random buy at Oslo Airport, and the sweetness was just right. Final Shoutout: Thanks to Maliu Spicy Noodles for saving us on days when Norwegian holiday closures left us with no dining options! #Norway #NorwegianFood #Oslo #Lofoten
