If you're craving a taste of the sea in the heart of Oslo, Fisheriet Youngstorget is a must-visit. The photos alone hint at an elevated dining experience that expertly balances flavor, freshness, and presentation. The moules frites look inviting, with a generous serving of plump mussels garnished with fresh herbs and accompanied by a perfectly grilled lemon wedge. The accompanying fries are golden and crisp, with a rich aioli on the side—a comforting yet sophisticated combination. The fish and chips dish stands out with its beautifully golden and crunchy batter. The fish fillets are thick and perfectly fried, suggesting a moist, flaky interior. The addition of pickled garnishes, a bright lemon wedge, and a luscious tartar sauce adds a burst of complementary flavors. The seafood chowder is presented in a way that evokes warmth and indulgence. Creamy with visible chunks of fresh salmon, mussels, and vegetables, it looks like a dish that would be deeply comforting, especially on a chilly Oslo day. Overall, Fisheriet Youngstorget seems to master the art of classic seafood dishes with an emphasis on quality ingredients and authentic flavors. Whether you’re after a casual meal or a refined seafood experience, this spot should be on your list. Five stars!

Read a good review of this restaurant, so we decided to come and try. We went on Friday dinner and the restaurant was quite full. We ordered their famous Fish and Chips and Creamy Fish Soup. First is the Fish and Chips, the batter was good and crispy, but the fish itself was too flaky and bland for my liking. It must be eaten with the remoulade, otherwise it’s too bland. Chips was too skinny so it’s a bit hard to eat when it’s deep fried. Next is the Creamy Fish Soup, for me it’s too creamy and milky. I guess it’s not to my liking. The ingredients (white fish, salmon and mussels) were fresh but the quantity is too little for its price. Overall the food taste was just okay only for me, and it’s quite pricey for its portion. Maybe I just had too high expectation. Ambience is okay, service is a bit slow. We waited almost 30 mins for our food to be served.

MAKE A RESERVATION online. We waited for over an hour without a reservation. Decided it was too cold and we had to leave. We later learned you can make reservations online for the next day and there is always some availability. We ordered the Fish & Shellfish Casserole, the Fish & Chip, and the Fish Soup. The casserole blew me away. It came with mussels, prawns, fish, and snow crab legs. Absolutely delicious! The fish and chip was crispy and very fresh. But I am used to a little bit more seasoning. It came with this creamy green dip, which worked well to bring more flavor. The fish soup was delicious but compared to the one I had at Seaport Restaurant, it failed to amaze me. It did had a lot more variety of seafood and was good in its own way. Highly recommend this place! Quite busy and packed!

Definitely one of the best seafood restaurants in Oslo. They even have a fishmongers on site. Even though we were only in Oslo for a few days we ended up going here twice because the food was that good. Reservations would be helpful if you visit as the place does get very busy but we didn't either time we went and luckily got a table. We tried quite a few dishes from the menu and every one of them were faultless. Prices were typical Oslo restaurant prices which were very reasonable considering the quality. The restaurant isn't huge so can feel very compact during busy times. The staff were helpful enough, one particular young lady serving was very helpful, professional and friendly and a credit to the place. Overall we had a good time here and would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Oslo.
