I don t understand rating of this place. Terrible experience. One i never had before. We came for birthday dinner and place on Oslo port was looking as a great spot for Norwegian sunset. So we tried. We sat down and ordered our drinks. When they arrived we ordered our food. No problems until then. Waiter informed us it might take 30 minutes which we had no problem with. So sitting talking and enjoying the scenerio 40 minutes were quickly gone and we started to be nervous. I’ve asked how long does it take for our food so another waiter went to check and came back with question what did we ordered. Really??? Ok bit frustrated we ordered same again. I was asking myself why did they let us sit there for 40 minutes not asking if we need anything else when they didn’t see us eating. In two minutes waiter returned apologizing they don’t have pasta we ordered. So my girlfriend looked to the menu and chose another kind of pasta. No we dont have any kind of pasta. We asked for bill and wanted to leave. Manager asked us to stay that he will look after us and make sure food will come promptly. We stayed and my girlfriend ordered a pizza. What a choice. We were waiting another 20 minutes and food finally came. Kofte dish wasn’t to our taste although pizza was ok. Not fun of hawaian pizza with prawns. I know our choice but at that rush i thought hawaian will be hawaian. There was no back check and we felt like staff is trying to avoid us as they felt ashamed. At the end we were discounted one dish of the bill but we were not satisfied anyway as we wanted to enjoy our evening and we were really dissapointed with experience. We noticed they forgot to bring drinks on another table also. Leaving another customers to wait for them for around 30 mins. Generally very bad evening and if they have same people around all the time i don’t understand this rating they have. Either avoid or please get...
Read moreSlightly disappointed considering the good reviews.
Negatives When we were served our fish soup, one of the spoons was not washed properly, and had a bit of parsley or other old herb on the handle, as if the dishwasher wasn’t able to clean this off. It was only on the handle, but still. Fish soup was too thin, with only 1-2 bites of fish, and underseasoned. I had one big bite of fish in my soup, my fiancé had two smaller pieces. I see other reviewers saying their fish soup was very good, so this surprised us. It was a very busy day, with lots of guests, and it was as if they thinned the soup by adding more water or stock, to be able to serve more people, but this is us speculating. But it tasted like that. We were both disappointed having read the nice reviews before coming. The fish soup was our best dish, which in our opinion says a lot. The main fish dishes (dorade and the butter baked halibut) was way underseasoned, we had to ask for salt. The cook should taste their food, and adjust with adding and balancing the flavors, like just adding a bit of salt if it tastes bland. When paying we were asked to wait because all three terminals were busy. It was a minor thing, as we only had to wait a few extra minutes, but we still want to mention it.
Positives Very good location, especially in the sun. Restaurant was full, and we had a nice table outside with a sunset view by the sea. Good, polite and attentive service. They tried their best, and did a good job considering the amount of guests.
All in all 3/5 stars. We hope hope you take this feedback and improve. We might not be back, even though we live close by. Well, maybe just for a beer...
Read moreSeaport in Oslo offered an unforgettable dining experience that perfectly showcased the essence of fresh Scandinavian cuisine. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the ambiance—a cozy glass patio overlooking the bay and the city, adorned with twinkle lights that created a warm and inviting atmosphere.
We opted for a three-course meal that started with mussels and fries. The mussels were tender and flavorful, paired perfectly with crisp, golden fries. For our mains, we enjoyed salmon and halibut, both impeccably cooked. The dishes highlighted the region’s emphasis on fresh fish and root vegetables, with sauces that were simple yet incredibly delicious, letting the natural flavors shine.
Dessert was a highlight of the evening. We tried a unique Turkish dessert made with goat cheese and wheat, topped with vanilla ice cream—an unexpected delight with just the right amount of sweetness. We also indulged in two classic Western desserts: a rich chocolate lava cake and a perfectly executed tiramisu. Both were divine.
To start the night, we toasted with glasses of crisp, light Prosecco—a fitting choice as we reunited with a friend from Denmark I hadn’t seen in 10 years. The service throughout the evening was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who made us feel welcome and unrushed.
Dining at Seaport was more than just a meal; it was an experience. The combination of fresh, flavorful food, excellent service, and breathtaking views made for a memorable evening. I would highly recommend Seaport to anyone visiting Oslo—it’s a perfect spot for a special occasion or simply to enjoy the best of...
