Now I Get Why International Students in Germany Might Feel Down
Berlin really has that bleak, Eastern European vibe. Even though it’s a major city with all the amenities you’d expect, the whole place exudes a gloomy aura. WWII ended so long ago—so why does Berlin make you feel like it just finished yesterday? It’s a city that’s been hurt, so it puts up a distant front to the world 🕯️. Graffiti covers every corner of the subway stations, and cracked glass adds a sense of brokenness everywhere you look. Here in Europe, it’s a stark contrast to Denmark’s bright Nordic colors and refinement. Everything here feels rigid, rule-bound, and monotonous 🧱. Most Berliners don’t speak much English, and they’re not very open to languages other than German. It’s definitely hard to get used to when you first arrive. They also lack the warmth of people from California or Denmark—often, they don’t even bother with small pleasantries 😔. But every city has its own way of being "unlocked." When in Rome, do as the Romans do—you just have to adapt to it. #BerlinDailyLife #GermanyTravel
