Nuwara Eliya, an English-style fairy-tale world
1️⃣ Those guys were having a great time, dancing nonstop until 11 PM. The next day, we left Kandy, heading for Nuwara Eliya, the mountain garden city of Sri Lanka. 🛶 The winding mountain roads swayed, with countless tea plantations, waterfalls, and morning glories along the way. In almost every small village, the most magnificent building was a temple—similar to China.🇨🇳 By the roadside, there were also many farmers selling local strawberries, vegetables, and flowers.💐💐 2️⃣ All the waterfalls we encountered along the way were "small-scale" until we reached Ramboda Falls, about 20 km from the urban area. Its several-meter drop showed the momentum of a large waterfall. 🏝️🏝️ It was also in a gemstone shop here that I chatted with the enthusiastic owner for a while and bought a small stone at a low price.🌅 3️⃣ Blue Field Tea Factory has a history of about 200 years. 🗾 🛣️The guide explained the processes of picking, sorting, fermenting, drying, and grinding. We ordered golden and silver maojian (a type of tea) and black tea, and bought several boxes as souvenirs. I was surprised when the tea was served—they also drink "covered-bowl tea". In Sichuan, we use a small lid, but here they use a small plate, which can keep the tea warm and retain the aroma of the tea leaves in the boiling water.⛈️⛈️ 4️⃣ The temperature in Nuwara Eliya dropped, no wonder it’s Sri Lanka’s summer resort. 🏡 During the British colonial period, many Britons lived here and built many British-style buildings. 🏘️ British manors, lake areas, roofs painted like oil paint, afternoon tea on the lawn, and mist-shrouded low mountains—it truly lives up to the name "Little London".🇫🇷 5️⃣ The Grand Hotel, housed in an ancient building, is worth a visit to its neatly trimmed garden even if you don’t stay there.✈️ The Indian restaurant at the entrance has a menu made like a "Grand Indian Times" newspaper. The food is "clean and hygienic" and delicious.🍱🍱 Even though the red spices on my hands after eating the iron-plated grilled seafood took a long time to wash off, I still couldn’t help praising this restaurant—I was so full that I had to hold the wall to stand.🌻 6️⃣ I was just about to praise the great value of the large waterfall, which only cost 100 LKR (2.5 yuan), when Gregory Lake showed "double pricing" for foreign tourists: 1,000 LKR for park tickets, 6,000 LKR for speedboats, 4,500 LKR for jet skis, and 2,000 LKR for boat rides. 🙊 Well, it’s much more expensive than in China, and all this is on a lake with yellow sandy muddy water.😹 7️⃣ The weather wasn’t kind either. As soon as we reached the pier, it started pouring rain.🌨️🌨️ ⛩️A dozen people huddled under a sunshade to take shelter. At that moment, the boatman came over and asked if we wanted to take a boat, saying he could do it for 1,500 LKR for two people It turned out there was a "last-minute price". The rain stopped and then started again, with thunder roaring loudly.🌈 We had to hide back in the hotel to enjoy the view of the tea plantations outside the window.🪐🪐 #NuwaraEliya#SriLankaNuwaraEliya#SriLanka
