O Munaciello

🔍 'O Munaciello 📍 Via Maffia, 31r, 50125 Firenze FI 💰 Average cost per person: €16-20 Hidden in an alley near Piazza Santo Spirito, there's a Neapolitan pizzeria. The storefront gives off an illusion that this is a high-end restaurant rather than a pizzeria, thanks to its attractive decoration. But it's indeed a proper pizzeria, and the interior is quite delightful. Compared to ordinary restaurants, the lighting here takes on an unexpected candlelit dinner vibe. During dinner time, the dim light creates a surprisingly cozy atmosphere. The walls are adorned with various sizes of Napoli football club's blue jerseys, blue scarves, a large statue of the Virgin Mary, garlic, and chili peppers, which clearly reveal the owner's pure Neapolitan heritage. The wood-fired oven at the entrance is the soul of Neapolitan pizza. Neapolitans say: a pizza baked in an electric oven is not a Neapolitan pizza.🍕🍕🍕 We tried the pizzeria's namesake pizza and the Positano. The namesake pizza is more like a hodgepodge: tomatoes, little sausages, vegetables, eggplants, burrata all piled onto the pizza, quite homely. The Positano has a typical Mediterranean flavor: olives, tomatoes, anchovies, mozzarella. The crispy thick crust of the Neapolitan-style pizza is also irresistible, and we quickly cleaned our plates. In addition to pizzas, they also offer some Neapolitan specialties. Two people, one pizza each, a bottle of water, the average cost per person is €16. There is a seating fee at this pizzeria. The restaurant was quite busy with group dinners and team-building events during our visit. Even though we came on a rainy day when there were fewer people, the ordering and serving speed was a bit slow, and we still had to wait for a while. #Florence #FlorenceExploration #FlorentineCuisine #FlorenceFoodGuide #LocalEats #ItalianPizza #HandmadeItalianPizza #NeapolitanPizza #ExpatLife #ItalianStudentLife #LivingInItaly #StudentLifeInItaly
