🏰 Off-the-Beaten-Path Near NYC | Albany, New York's Capital

☁️ Escaping the rain in New Jersey, we drove about 2 hours to Albany, New York's capital city—reportedly the second oldest city in the eastern U.S. 🌿 The downtown area is delightfully compact—you can drive around it in 10 minutes! With few people on the streets, it's perfect for exploring on foot. At one end of State Street stands the magnificent, castle-like building of the University at Albany. At the other end, you'll find the State Capitol. Walking through the Capitol area, you're suddenly surrounded by a cluster of modernist buildings, creating a fascinating blend of classical and contemporary styles—like a scene from a sci-fi movie. Notable landmarks include The Egg and the State Art Museum. 🎶 Albany turned out to be a wonderful discovery near NYC, perfect for a day trip.
