Old Montreal: A Taste of Europe at Dawn and Dusk (2)🌅
The Fountain Left a Deep Impression on Me 🌊 🌿It wasn’t because it sat in the middle of the Weapons Square, 🎡 but because the fountain featured statues at its center and four corners, each representing a significant figure in Montreal’s history. 🏛️ One of them was labeled “Iroquois,” while the others were specific Europeans. 🌅This made me think about the difference between typification and personification.🎡 When we label a specific person with a category, we actually diminish their “personhood.” So even though they acknowledge that Montreal was originally Iroquois land, 🎡they still deprive the Iroquois of their “personhood,” because the counterpart to “Iroquois” should be “English,” “French,” or “American,” 🌿 not a specific individual. Inside Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal 🕍 The first time I saw a purple church, it was unforgettable. Of course, I later saw yellow and green churches too,🎡 and I plan to write about them separately. 🌿 In the photo, the most European scene is where the streets are lined with restaurants and the windows look like oil paintings🖼️. Overall Impressions of Montreal 🌆 Montreal doesn’t have any stunning large-scale views or unique culture, nor does it have dramatic stories. 🎡 It seems that even major wars didn’t touch it. Overall, it’s a bit underwhelming, although the city does make me feel incredibly comfortable.🌅 #GreenIsLi #Photography #Montreal #Canada #Travel🌿
