Oloroso / Philly's Trendy Spanish Restaurant Review πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έβœ¨

πŸ“ 1121 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19107 πŸ’° Around $80 per person Tried this popular Philly spot β€” Oloroso β€” and it was a great experience! Here’s my food breakdown: πŸ† Charred Eggplant (TAPAS) – 5/5 My favorite dish! The eggplant skin is charred to black, giving a smoky aroma, while the inside stays tender and juicy. Topped with fresh veggies and scallions in a sweet, slightly gingery sauce. The mix of crisp, slightly bitter greens and soft, smoky eggplant is creative and layered in flavor β€” and very fairly priced! πŸ₯˜ Paella Oloroso – 3.5/5 (my husband gives it 5/5!) My husband is a paella fanatic β€” he’s had it in Spain, in China, and makes it himself. I thought it was decent, but not better than his homemade version πŸ˜„. He loved it though β€” shrimp were fresh, clams were tender. Felt a bit pricey for what it was. πŸ• Coca Blanca (TAPAS) – Oyster Mushroom Pizza – 4.5/5 Brick-oven pizza with that signature soft-yet-crispy texture. The mushrooms were delicious, and a dash of chili powder really brightened the flavors. A win for mushroom lovers! πŸ™ Grilled Octopus – 3/5 Many on Xiaohongshu rave about this, but I thought it was just okay. The octopus was a bit tough and had a mushy texture inside β€” not super fresh tasting. Seasoning was complex though β€” my husband loved it and finished all the sauce! 🦞 Lobster & Avocado (TAPAS – Daily Special) – 4/5 Two of my favorite ingredients β€” hard to mess up. It was fine β€” crispy toast, decent flavor, but nothing surprising. Probably not a must-order at a restaurant. If you love this combo, maybe try Luke’s Lobster instead. #PhillyFood #WhatToEatInPhilly #PhillyEats #FoodReview #Philadelphia #HiddenGem
