One-Day Trip to Cuenca, Spain

1. Transportation 🚉 By Train: ① Madrid Train Station: 📍 C. de Agustín de Foxá, Chamartín, 28036 Madrid, Spain ② Cuenca Train Station: 📍 N-320, S/N, 16003 Cuenca, Spain 🔹 PS: The station names can be tricky to search, so use the exact addresses above. At Madrid’s metro, take the escalator up and follow the crowd to reach the train station. 2. Attractions ⭐ From Cuenca Train Station: After exiting, head straight to find taxis 🚕 and the L1 bus stop (runs ~hourly—check the schedule!). Note: The L1 bus only went to Plaza del Nazareno (not Plaza Mayor) when I visited—possibly due to an event. If you also stop here, follow my route below! 📸 My Route (Photo Order): P2: Torre de Mangana 🕰️ – A clock tower designed to amplify sound. P3: Plaza de la Merced – A quiet square (not sure about its history). P4: Cuenca Cathedral ⛪ – Skipped the interior (just saw Toledo’s yesterday!) but great for photos. P5: Castillo de Cuenca 🏰 – A Moorish castle ruin… but mostly just stairs with a decent view. P6: Archivo Histórico Provincial de Cuenca 🗺️ – Near a NatGeo photo spot (likely the castle’s side—wide-open views!). P7: Casas Colgadas (Hanging Houses) – Unique, but mostly thought, "Living here must be tough!" 😅 P8: San Pablo Bridge 🌉 – A medieval iron bridge. Legend says couples who cross it find love… but if you’re afraid of heights, you’ll just find terror! 😱 P9: Mirador del Cerro del Socorro – Touted as the "best viewpoint," but meh—the castle views are better. P10-P11: Bonus pics—just liked the vibes! 3. Route Map 🛣️ If starting at Plaza del Nazareno, follow my order (P2-P11): P2-P3: One direction from Plaza Mayor. P4-P6: Another direction. P7-P9: Final stretch. Hard to avoid backtracking, but this minimizes it! 4. Time Needed ⏰ Half a day is enough (excluding travel time to/from Madrid). 5. Verdict 📈 Honest opinion: Cuenca is okay, but if choosing between Toledo and Cuenca… pick Toledo! #Cuenca #PlazaMayor #TorreDeMangana #CuencaCathedral #HangingHouses #SpainTravel
