Lil Ragù, a mobile pasta truck in Takapuna, specializes in Italian cuisine and fresh pasta — it’s only open during the warmer months 🌞! The fully outdoor setting creates a laid-back, casual dining vibe, perfect for a relaxed meal with a breeze. We started with the Prosciutto & Cheese Fried Pizza Bread 🍕. The dough was light and fluffy, pairing perfectly with the savory prosciutto. However, a drizzle of balsamic glaze would have balanced the flavors beautifully, making it less one-note. Of the three pastas we tried, the Fennel Pork Sausage Pappardelle was the clear winner 🏆! The sauce was rich and velvety, with layered anise aromas from the sausage, and the pasta was cooked al dente (perfectly tender with a slight bite) — absolute perfection. In contrast, the Carbonara was a letdown 💣: the sauce was lumpy, a mistake that shouldn’t happen in a professional kitchen. Last up was the Slow-Cooked Brisket Ravioli with Pistachio Pesto 🥜. The brisket filling was overly mushy with weak flavor, while the pesto lacked distinct basil notes — it was bland and forgettable overall. For dessert, we had the Pistachio Tiramisu 🍰.
