Oregon Eugene | Eugene, Oregon Food Roundup (Part 1) 🍴

I visited Eugene both for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year—and since it’s such an underrated spot with not much food coverage online, I thought I’d put together a simple roundup of the eats here! There are so many great spots that I split this into two parts: Part 1 covers Japanese, Chinese, Southeast Asian, and BBQ spots. Part 2 will feature brunch spots, bubble tea, local bars, coffee shops, and more… 🍣 Japanese Cuisine Izakaya Jinsei – A cozy izakaya (Japanese pub) with that warm, casual vibe 🏮 Izakaya Meiji Co. – A tiny little spot with a more limited menu, but still worth a try for its intimate feel. Akira – One of the few places in town offering omakase (chef’s choice)—definitely make a reservation in advance! Sushi Pure – A solid pick for fresh sushi and classic Japanese dishes. Tokyo Tonkatsu – A delicious little spot! Highly recommend their Tonkatsu Don (Pork Cutlet Rice Bowl) 🍛—their tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) is great too, though the ramen is just so-so. Makoto Japanese Restaurant – Another reliable option for a range of Japanese favorites. Sushi Seoul – A fun mix of Japanese and Korean flavors—perfect if you can’t decide between the two! Izumi Sushi and Grill – Serves both sushi and grilled dishes, great for groups with different tastes. 🥢 Chinese Cuisine Wonder Wok Restaurant and Bar (Lanzhou Renjia) – Known for Lanzhou-style dishes (think hand-pulled noodles!). Bing King – A red food truck serving authentic jianbing (Chinese savory crepes)—a must-try for a quick, tasty bite! Kung Fu Bistro – Specializes in Sichuan cuisine, ideal for anyone craving bold, spicy flavors. Legend of Szechuan (Shufeng Lou) – Another top spot for Sichuan dishes, with classic favorites done well. Spice N Steam – A friend warned me this one was a miss (total “food fail” vibes), so proceed with caution! Five Lucky Stars – Your go-to for Americanized Chinese food—comfort classics like orange chicken and chow mein. 🍜 Southeast Asian Cuisine Sabai Cafe & Bar – A great spot for flavorful Thai food, with dishes ranging from mild to fiery. Ta Ra Rin | Thai Cuisine (Eugene) – Another fantastic Thai option, known for its fresh ingredients and authentic tastes. Bon Mi – Serves delicious Vietnamese bánh mì (sandwiches) and other Vietnamese staples. Vietnam Restaurant – The place to go for hearty, comforting pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) 🍜—perfect for Eugene’s cooler days. 🍖 BBQ Kkoki Korean BBQ Eugene – Hands down one of my favorites—I went twice! 🇰🇷 It’s all-you-can-eat for under $50 per person. Their tteokgalbi (rice cake sausage) is also a personal favorite. Pro tip: Service can be slow, so plan accordingly! Bill & Tim's Barbeque & Tap House – Delicious American-style BBQ with smoky, tender meats and classic sides—super satisfying. #Oregon #Eugene #EugeneFood #OregonTravel #PacificNorthwestEats #SeattleLife #WestCoastTravel #Portland #PortlandAreaEats
