🏡 Oxford & Cotswolds

The English countryside fulfills every idyllic living fantasy 🏠✨. After two and a half years, I took the bus again to the most beautiful villages of the Cotswolds 🚌💨. From Oxford Station, take the train to Moreton-in-Marsh (33 minutes 🚆), then transfer to Bus 2 to Chipping Campden (30 minutes, £3/person 💷). 1️⃣ Chipping Campden 🧵 A medieval wool trading hub 🏰. The architecture here is unique, especially the thatched-roof cottages 🍃. Rumor has it these roofs need replacing every ten years! Residents use induction stoves instead of fireplaces due to high fire risks 🔥, and insurance costs are higher too 💸. But wouldn’t you still want to live in such adorable houses? 💚 In the afternoon, we took Bus 1 back to Moreton-in-Marsh (50 minutes, £3/person ↩️), then transferred to Bus 801 to Bourton-on-the-Water (30 minutes, £5/person for a round trip 🔁). 2️⃣ Bourton-on-the-Water 🏞️ This was my second visit, though unplanned. We passed Lower Slaughter in heavy rain , so we skipped it and came here instead. Plenty of cafés and shops to shelter from the rain 🍰, but the village feels overly commercialized—like a "Chinese Lijiang" 🏪🎭—with few locals left. We stayed only 30 minutes and left as the rain lightened . 3️⃣ Lower Slaughter 🌼 Took Bus 801 back to Lower Slaughter. Got off near a gas station ⛽ and walked 10+ minutes into the village 🌳. Instantly fell in love again—so peaceful, just like two years ago . The Old Mill Museum was closed 🏚️, but strolling around was pure bliss 😌🍃. Remembering the daffodils blooming along the river in spring… 4️⃣ Upper Slaughter 🍑 A 20+ minute walk through farms and woods leads to this hidden gem 🚶—a sudden, breathtaking view like stepping into The Peach Blossom Spring 🏞️. Evening light glimmered on the clear stream , and an elderly lady stepped out to take out the trash 👵. We marveled, “What kind of immortals live here?!” A local friend joked: “Old Money who don’t need to work.” 😅 Had to catch the last Bus 801 at 7:22 PM 🕢, so we left reluctantly… saving the dream for autumn . Next time, I’ll spend a whole day in just one village 🍁. Bus 801 back to Moreton-in-Marsh (30 minutes ↩️), then train to Oxford . #LifeInTheUK #Oxford #Cotswolds #CountrysideLiving #EnglishVillages #CountryGarden #FarmLife 🐄🌾
