Château de Maintenon One of the most beautiful castles in France, Château de Maintenon is renowned for the love story between Louis XIV and his second wife, Madame de Maintenon, as well as its exquisite architecture and gardens. The castle dates back to the medieval period, preserving two bell towers from the 12th and 13th centuries, with both owners leaving their mark on the construction. The castle's gardens were designed by Le Nôtre, the gardener of Louis XIV, who was also the designer of the gardens at Versailles. The poet Racine found his inspiration here.
