Pasadena | Osawa's Melt-in-Your-Mouth Unagi Don 🍱✨

On Lunar New Year's Day, I originally planned to visit the USC Pacific Asia Museum to soak up some festive vibes—only to realize the event had ended yesterday! 😅 Then I walked to a nearby Starbucks for coffee... but it was closed! Next, I headed to Bone Kettle hoping to try their famous bone marrow—also closed, even though Google Maps said it was open. 🥲 Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket today—three disappointing attempts in a row on the New Year! 🍀 Finally, we went to Osawa next door. It was packed—indoor seating was fully booked. Since I’m pregnant and couldn’t have sashimi, I stuck to cooked dishes. The Unagi Don (Eel Rice Bowl) was absolutely divine—truly melt-in-your-mouth! 🐟💖 It ranks among my top 3 favorite unagi bowls ever! Many people recommended their udon, so I also ordered Tempura Udon. The tempura was excellent—crispy and not oily at all—but the udon itself was just okay, and the broth tasted a bit too tangy for my liking.
