Pasadena Colette – Life is like a play, and so is Cantonese cuisine 🎭
This restaurant has been trending lately thanks to Daniel Wu’s recommendation! I went for a quiet weekday lunch—it’s close to Arcadia and Sierra Madre, with easy parking. The decor doesn’t really scream “Cantonese restaurant”—it’s spacious, modern, and seats are comfortable. Prices are on the higher side, making it better for family gatherings or friend meetups. 🍽️ Golden Pumpkin Seafood Soup As a thick soup lover, I never miss Cantonese soups. This one was reasonably priced—very fresh, with a creamy pumpkin texture and tender shrimp. A lovely combination! 🍽️ Black Pork Char Siu A bit on the richer side—very sweet and slightly fatty. The meat was tender with a nice smoky aroma when hot. Char siu fans might enjoy it! 🍽️ Crispy Skin “Hundred Flowers” Chicken Honestly, didn’t taste much like chicken. The outside is thin, crispy chicken skin, and the inside is a bouncy shrimp paste-like filling. They say it’s a creative dish that takes six hours to make—but the flavor was mild and not very impressive. Kids might like it though! 🍽️ French-Style Lamb Rack The best meat dish in my opinion! Four large, juicy, and tender lamb chops with a unique spice blend—perfectly cooked and not greasy at all. Highly recommend! 🐑🔥 🍽️ Laksa Seafood Pasta We ordered this blindly. The broth was flavorful with plenty of shrimp, but they used fusilli pasta that didn’t absorb the sauce well—too hard and slippery. Ended up drinking the broth and leaving the noodles. Not recommended. 🍽️ Salted Egg Yolk Pumpkin Fries My absolute FAVORITE dish! So delicious—I ate three in a row! Soft fried pumpkin strips coated in sandy, savory salted egg yolk—an amazing mix of sweet and salty with great texture. A must-order! 🎃💛 🍽️ Stuffed Chicken Wings with Sticky Rice Basically Chinese street-style “chicken wing rice pockets.” The sticky rice inside was a bit hard and dry, making it tough to eat with the wing. Also, be careful—it’s packed full and stays very hot for a while! Flavor was just okay—maybe an spice version would be better 😅. #CantoneseFood #PasadenaEats #RestaurantReview #DanielWuPick #Foodie #LAFood #MustTry
