Perth City Half-Day Exploration 🚶♀️🗺️
Yesterday was Sunday, and even though it was cloudy, I decided to visit the WA Museum and Art Gallery. Luckily, both are located in the city center, along with London Court, the Swan Bell Tower, and Elizabeth Quay—all within walking distance! But honestly… I got lost several times before finally finding the art gallery 😅. Good thing the museum was just a short walk away—it’s HUGE though, and I was completely exhausted after covering every floor. Mission accomplished ✅! As for London Court… I’m still not sure if the pedestrian street I passed was actually it 🤷♀️. And the Swan Bell Tower—I only vaguely remember spotting a spire somewhere downtown 🏛️. Elizabeth Quay was the only spot I found smoothly (surprisingly!). Considering I’m the Queen of Getting Lost, hitting 60% of the plan is a win! 🎉 I used ride-sharing both ways—if I had taken public transport, I probably would’ve circled around even more 🚊😵. Still not brave enough for buses or trains… zero sense of direction here! Here are some highlights from the day: 1️⃣ The WA Art Gallery was just okay for me, but the WA Museum totally stole the show! 🦈🌿 It covers WA’s history, Indigenous culture, wildlife, marine life, and modern innovations—so rich in content! Even though I’m usually not a museum person, I didn’t want to miss a thing. Ended up totally worn out but happy 😊. And don’t worry—there are plenty of rest areas inside. Highly recommend! Totally worth the $15 💰! 2️⃣ The natural history and marine sections were full of little kids—so many adorable little angels 👶💙! I really wanted to hug them (but didn’t dare ask 😆). Seriously though, those cute kiddos made my day! 3️⃣ At the museum café downstairs, pigeons were casually roaming INSIDE 🕊️🍟! They weren’t scared at all—as soon as people left their seats, they’d swoop onto the tables and feast on leftover fries. Kids were running around chasing them… such a funny and heartwarming scene of human-pigeon harmony 😂. 4️⃣ Asked for directions quite a few times—every Australian I met was super friendly 🥺💬. Once, I had to cross the Perth Train Station. I asked staff if I could walk through, and they said yes. But on the second floor, I realized I needed to exit and asked another staff member. He said, “Normally you need a ticket, but since you’re just going to the museum… I’ll let you out.” So kind! Also asked a really handsome police officer for directions 👮♂️✨—should’ve asked for a photo! Missed opportunity 😔. 5️⃣ People can be so thoughtful. At night, I was carrying three water bottles back to my hotel. Another guest held the door open and said, “You go first—you’ve got your hands full.” It’s these little acts of kindness that really touch you when you’re far from home ❤️. #PerthDiaries #WAuseum #TravelAustralia #SoloTravel #KindnessInPerth #GettingLostButNotReally #PerthAdventures 🌏📸
