Then there’s the Omni in Richmond, VA—a chain hotel that feels old-fashioned but is connected to the modern Wells Fargo building in a surprisingly harmonious way. Rooms in the low season go for around $280 per night. The location is super convenient with plenty of dining and entertainment options nearby, and practical spots like banks are within walking distance. The hotel’s restaurant is quite nice, and there’s even a Starbucks inside. Though the rooms feel a bit outdated compared to the tech-savvy hotels in China, everything was clean, tidy, and comfortable. This one is pet-friendly too, but with a one-time cleaning fee of $150 per room. All in all, traveling with a dog in the U.S. is incredibly easy 🐾—there are pet-friendly hotels at various price points everywhere. I’m already thinking about bringing my pup here for a six-month stay next time! The only annoying thing this trip? Even with an international data plan, my Chinese phone plan blocked essential apps like Google Maps, Uber, and Yelp 😭👎… literally lifesaving tools! It’s like paying for data that can’t even be used.
