Philadelphia: Butcher and Singer
š 1500 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19102 The first floor looks like a beautiful opera box similar to Carbon, and we enjoyed some delightful winter dishes that really lifted our spirits. From the moment we sat down, things were off to a great start. The little bowl of butter that arrived first was already a pleasant surpriseālightly mango-flavored and very delicate, along with warm āsconeā bread. Then the waiter brought over a basket of baguettes; such attention to detail! š Steak Tartare This is the textbook version of steak tartare. It tasted like a blue cheese and yolk sauce, with finely diced peppers adding just the right amount of āspiceāāenough to give it a rich flavor without being overpowering. It was adorable. The accompanying slices of bread, however, seemed a bit redundant. Iād suggest just savoring the tartare on its own. š Butcher Salad This salad was really something special. How so? āYou might say itās a miracle. Iām someone who dislikes salads so much that itās well-known throughout Shanghai, but after eating this one here, Iāve been craving salads almost every day. They have to include dried fruits and candied fruit dices, raisins, chunks and shreds of cheese, tomatoes, crisp and sweet green vegetables, and salamiāoh, and green beans too!ā š 20 oz. Bone-In Strip This is the āsecretā cut of meat thatās so tender it juices as you cut into it. It has a strong ābeefyā flavor, and Iād say itās the best thing at whatās considered the ābest steakhouse in Philadelphia.ā The meat is incredibly tender and subtly aromatic. Itās so delicate that you almost canāt believe itās from an animal. You might even detect some undefined fruity or sweet notes. After finishing it, thereās no feeling of heaviness or guilt; you feel light and satisfied. #MyDailyLife #LifeInNorthAmerica #FoodieCheckIn #GlobalEatingSquad
