Philadelphia Downtown | Trying Wilder, a New American Spot

During Thanksgiving, I used Resy to pick this promising restaurant near the university area and got a noon reservation for Black Friday—and it was full of nice surprises! 🎉 Their lunch menu doesn’t have a huge selection; my dining partner and I ordered 2 cocktails 🥂, 1 soup 🥣, half a dozen oysters 🦪, 1 pasta dish 🍝, and 1 pizza 🍕. With tip included, it came out to around $70 per person 💰. Drinks & Lunch Special Their drinks have really fun names—they make you want to try them all! 😍 We went for their lunch special: $40 for half a dozen oysters plus a pizza of your choice. The oysters were super fresh, no grit at all 🦪. As someone sensitive to seafood fishy smells, I can say there was zero fishiness—total win! ✨ We ordered their signature Sweet & Spicy Pizza 🍕. The spiciness was more prominent than the sweetness, and the crust was thin—soft but chewy around the edges. It tasted really fragrant overall, though it was a bit greasy. Tomato & Espelette Soup This tomato bisque was just “okay.” 😐 The cheese flavor was way too strong, overshadowing the fresh tomato taste—kind of a shame, since the soup itself had a smooth texture 🥣. Mafaldine alla Vodka This pasta was delicious! 😋 Every strand was coated in rich vodka sauce, and it came with heaps of crab meat—way more than it looks in photos 😲. The sauce was creamy but not heavy, and the crab added a nice briny touch that balanced the sauce perfectly. The mafaldine (ribbon-shaped pasta) held onto the sauce well, so every bite was flavorful 🍝. Service & Ambiance A big shoutout to their service—staff kept refilling our water 💧 and changing utensils, super attentive! The vibe was great too; after 12 PM, the restaurant got really lively 🎊. The only small downside was that the tables were a bit close together. But overall, the dining experience was totally 👍. Next time, I want to try their brunch and dinner menus! 🥞🍽️ Address: 2009 Sansom St, Philadelphia, PA 19103 📍 #Philadelphia #PhiladelphiaLife #PhillyArea #PhiladelphiaFood
