Portland | Chizuko Yoshida Print Exhibition - A Casual Visit 🎨✨

I recently heard that the Portland Art Museum will hold a three-day Grand Opening with free admission from November 20 to 23 after its renovation—such great news! 😊 However, it's a bit disappointing that the weekly free days in November and December have been canceled for this event, which makes me, as someone who loves "grabbing freebies," a little sad. 💔 Anyway, I took the chance to visit Chizuko Yoshida's print exhibition and wanted to share my thoughts! Yoshida's early works are heavily influenced by ukiyo-e, and I fell in love with them at first sight! 🌸 Her pieces blend delicate observations of daily life, such as the changing seasons, sunny and rainy moods, and warm moments from travels with her husband and daughter. 🦋 Themes like lavender fields, the ocean, and flowers appear repeatedly, filled with clever little touches that evoke a sense of life's beauty and tranquility. 🌊 These artworks not only have soft colors but also radiate a familiar warmth, as if telling small stories that made me stop and linger. 😌 However, her later works shifted to a more abstract style, which I found harder to connect with. 🤔 The only pieces that were somewhat easier to understand were a few inspired by symphonies, such as comparing raindrops to musical notes, blending music and natural elements. 🎵 This creativity was interesting, but overall, I still prefer her earlier ukiyo-e style, which feels closer to my heart. In terms of exhibition layout, the museum simply arranged the works chronologically and by theme. While it was clear, it left me a bit disappointed. 😐 Having previously seen the "Monet and Ukiyo-e" exhibition, this one felt somewhat plain in comparison. That said, the Portland Art Museum's standard is still much higher than other galleries in the Northwest! 👍 The overall experience was pleasant and worth a visit. In summary, this visit allowed me to enjoy the beauty of art and reminded me to cherish free opportunities. 😂 If you like prints or Japanese aesthetics, you should check it out! 👋 #ChizukoYoshida #PrintExhibition #PortlandArt #Ukiyo-e #ArtMuseumVisit #ArtLife #FreeExhibition
