Portland | Seafood-Packed, Great-Value Buffet!
🦀️ Powell's Seafood Restaurant📍 6633 SE Powell Blvd, Portland, OR 97206 I found this restaurant online—many food bloggers mentioned you can buy fresh seafood at ABC Seafood Company next door and bring it here for processing. But I wasn’t feeling well that day, so I just walked in and ordered directly from their menu 🤒. To my surprise, their dishes were packed with that iconic “wok hei” (the smoky, charred flavor from stir-frying in a blazing hot wok)—so delicious that I felt much better after eating. It was like a warm hug for my Chinese stomach during the trip, and I can’t recommend it enough! 😃 🥘 Shrimp Roe Vermicelli Pot: This dish came out first, and it blew me away instantly! 😲 The portion was huge—my friend and I couldn’t finish it even though we tried, so we had to take leftovers. The vermicelli was seasoned to perfection, rich and savory, mixed with scrambled eggs and tiny shrimp roe. Every bite had that fun “pop” from the roe, and the aroma was so enticing that I kept going back for more. It’s a total must-try—you won’t regret it! 😍 🦀 Crab with Scallions & Ginger: It was priced by the market rate, around $48 per crab when we visited, so we ordered one. Wow, it was way bigger than expected, and the crab meat was super fresh! 🤩 Each bite was juicy and sweet, full of that natural seafood flavor. We were both starving, but even then, we barely finished the whole crab—it was that filling. The scallion-ginger sauce complemented the crab perfectly without masking its freshness. 🍤 Shrimp with Premium Soy Sauce: The server accidentally brought out salt-and-pepper shrimp first, but they swapped it out right away 😅. I originally thought this would be boiled shrimp with soy sauce for dipping, but it turned out totally different (I even wondered if they just re-seasoned the salt-and-pepper shrimp). Since the first two dishes were so amazing, this one felt pretty average—no standout flavors to write home about. 😕 🥦 Chinese Broccoli: It’s a simple vegetable dish, nothing fancy, but it hit the spot. When you’re traveling, you crave fresh veggies to balance out all the rich food, and this broccoli had that nice wok hei too. It’s not a “must-order,” but if you want something light, it’s a good choice. 😃 💰 For two people and these four dishes, the total was around $100. If I ever come back to Portland, I’ll definitely try what other bloggers suggested: buying seafood at ABC Seafood Company next door and having it cooked here. That way, I can get more varieties, possibly better prices, and even fresher seafood. (I really wish Philadelphia had a spot like this too!) 🤗 #ShanDawangSeesTheWorld #Oregon #OregonTravelGuide #OREGON #PortlandFoodExploration #PortlandFood #Seafood #RoadTrip #HiddenGemRestaurant #Portland #PrivateSmallRestaurant #FoodExploration #FoodAndFun
