Portland Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
Last night at Pioneer Square felt like falling into a Christmas fairy tale! As someone who experienced the 41st lighting ceremony firsthand, I can still hear the collective singing of "Jingle Bells" ringing in my ears~ ๐ธ By 5:30 PM as the sky darkened, the square was already filled with crowds sporting red and green scarves, the air sweet with the scent of hot cocoa, and everyone's eyes twinkling with anticipation. ๐ถ Thomas Lauderdale was still the soul of the event! When he played the piano and led the crowd in "Silent Night," even the mischievous little kids quieted down. The local choir, dressed in silver sequined dresses, sang under the night sky where breath turned to mist in the cold, their voices so clear it felt like they polished the stars a bit brighter ๐ The absolute highlight was definitely when Santa Claus arrived on his sleigh! ๐ฆ The whole crowd counted down with the host: "Three, two, oneโ!" Nearly ten thousand lights burst on simultaneously, the massive Douglas fir transforming instantly from treetop to base into a waterfall of gold, the crowd's cheers warming up the winter night. An elderly white-haired lady beside me suddenly wiped a tear and said, "This time every year reminds me that Portland truly is home." ๐ Practical Recap: ๐ Event Time: Friday, November 28th, evening ๐ Key Spot: Around the Christmas tree at Pioneer Square ๐ก Lighting Moment: Around 6:30 PM ๐ Hidden Surprise: Free bell bracelets handed out by volunteers Even though my hands were so cold they shook while taking photos, my camera roll saved the warmth of a child sitting on their dad's shoulders, couples taking selfies under the tree's glow, and the kindness of strangers helping each other capture panoramic shots. This night, woven with lights and songs, warmed hearts more deeply than any seasonal drink ever could โค๏ธ๐ฅ #PortlandChristmas #LightingCeremonyRecap #WinterWarmMoments #CommunityEventSharing #HolidayVibes #FreeActivityRecommendation #PortlandMustDo
