Post-00s Foreign Trade Professional’s Germany 🇩🇪 Business Trip Diary
📍It’s been ages since I updated Last month, I went to Frankfurt, Germany for a trade fair. Compared to Hannover (where I went last year), Frankfurt has way more places worth exploring— ➡️ Römerberg (Roman Square) ➡️ Eurotower ➡️ Frankfurt Cathedral, and so on! Most attractions in the city center are pretty close to each other; you can basically walk to all of them 🚶♀️. 📍Transportation: 🚇 The subway ticketing system is so confusing! The stations are super complicated, totally different from subways in China. 🛴 Shared scooters are also a good option—lots of people ride them around the city, but you’ll need a credit card to rent one. 🚕 For taxis, download Uber—you can pay with credit card or cash. A 3km ride costs around 100 RMB. 📍Food: Besides the city center, there are really few restaurants. Sometimes we had to walk 10-20 minutes just to find a place to eat 😮💨. The food options are limited too—mostly pasta and burgers. And it’s definitely expensive: a bowl of beef noodles 🍜 costs 16 Euros! We rented a homestay, so we could cook breakfast there in the morning (saving some money!). 📍Souvenirs for Friends Back Home: Supermarkets are great for snacks—chocolate 🍫, fruit tea 🍵 are the most popular picks. You can also buy skincare/makeup at DM (a German drugstore). For elders, I got meds for lowering blood pressure/blood sugar/cholesterol, vitamins, horse balm, and fish oil. I even picked up anti-hair loss meds for my friends 😂. ➡️ Important Note! Any liquid over 100ml must be checked in. I had a 150ml bottle of shampoo in my carry-on bag, and it got confiscated during security checks 🚫. 📍Trade Fair Experience: Overall, the fair results were just so-so. There were more Europeans/Americans than at the Canton Fair, but not as many as I expected. Most visitors were regular clients—probably because our booth wasn’t decorated. Few new clients stopped by, but the fully decorated booth across from us was packed with people 🤷♀️. That’s about all I have to share for now! If you have other questions, leave a comment or send me a private message—I’ll reply when I see them. To all foreign trade peers: let’s work hard in the new year! 💪 #BusinessTripShare #ForeignTrade #ForeignTradeShare #GermanDailyLife #ForeignTradeSalesperson
