PPPOP – Still Delicious After All These Years! 😊

Before the pandemic, I used to visit PPPOP in Monterey Park often—it was affordable, filling, and tasty. Post-pandemic, prices have gone up, so I haven’t been back as much. Recently, I craved their salt & pepper chicken and decided to give it another try! 🍗 Salt & Pepper Chicken Still as good as I remember! The coating is thin and crispy, and the chicken inside remains juicy and well-seasoned. One of the best versions I’ve had in LA. 🍜 Signature Braised Beef Noodle Soup Just like before—tender beef, chewy noodles, and a savory broth that doesn’t leave you thirsty afterward. At around $15, it’s actually more reasonable than many other places where similar dishes cost closer to $20 for lesser quality. 🥬 Pro tip: Add $3 for a side of vegetables—they’re generous with the portion! 🥟 Xiao Long Bao Almost every table orders these, but they’re just okay in my opinion. The wrappers are decent and there’s broth inside, but the filling is a bit loose and lacks depth. 🍝 Fujian-Style Fried Rice Noodles Pretty tasty except for the seafood, which seemed frozen and underseasoned. The rest of the dish was flavorful and satisfying. Overall, I still enjoy PPPOP—carb lovers especially will appreciate their hearty offerings. I also recall their fried rice and udon being delicious and full of wok hei (that smoky stir-fry flavor). I’ll definitely be back from time to time. ⏳ Heads up: They open at 11 AM, and even by 11:30 AM on weekends there can be a wait. When we left around 12:30 PM, the line was still going strong. 👩‍🍳 A sweet side note: There’s a server who’s been working there for years—from being trained to now training newcomers. It’s nice to see staff staying long-term; speaks well of the workplace environment! #LAEats #PPPOP #MontereyPark #TaiwaneseFood #ComfortFood #NoodleLovers #LAFoodie #CasualEats #MustTry
