Real Men Eat Yemeni Food – Anaheim, OC / LA Area
As a Middle Eastern cuisine lover, seeing kebab is like UFC fighter Khabib seeing Conor McGregor—I just want to take it down fast 😤. Someone recommended this spot, and it didn’t disappoint! The unique fragrance of the rice was a pleasant surprise. 1️⃣ Madfun Lamb – $38.99 Comes with lamb shank and ribs. Ribs were tender and fall-apart; shank was a bit dry. The rice had a faint charcoal-like aroma—maybe from spices or a method similar to Chinese “firewood rice.” The subtle smokiness didn’t overpower. Paired with lamb fat and lightly charred peppercorns, each flavor stayed distinct yet harmonious. Peppercorns added mild numbing, not sharp. Lamb was well-seasoned, not greasy—fatty parts were smooth and rich. Only downside: way too much rice, and it was on the drier side (maybe absorbing lamb fat like Uyghur pilaf, not steamed fluffy). Would be better if the shank stayed juicier. 7.5/10 2️⃣ Harazi Rotisserie Chicken – $18.99 Solid, definitely better than Costco or Whole Foods rotisserie. Fries were unsalted (table salt available). Highlight was the hummus presentation—the olive oil pooled like a spring within the “mountain” of hummus, topped with something green (forgot what it was). Served with a bread reminiscent of Chinese scallion pancake (milder flavor) and dipping sauces. Presentation. Overall 7/10 3️⃣ Lemonade – $12 Fresh, sweet-tart, with mint—light green color. A bit pricey, but not overly sweet like typical American versions (maybe some syrup used). 6/10 for the cost. The menu has many other tempting dishes, including desserts.
