Recent LA Omakase Experiences π£β¨
While I'm not a hardcore Japanese food fan, in LA's somewhat limited fine dining scene, omakase remains a solid choice. Sharing my visits from the past few months β the last two on my list Iβd personally skip. π± Recommended Spots: Sushi Ginza β A classic. Consistent quality, fresh ingredients, no surprises. ~$400 pp.π Tempura Endo β Dedicated tempura omakase. Was amazing 5 years ago; now just good. Sets range ~$200-$300+. Sushi Yuen β Located further east. Been twice β menu similar but tasty. Love their elegant tableware! ~$275 pp. 715 Sushi β Recently tried. Delicious + chef is nice (and yes, handsome π). Coincidentally, the heir to the Juyondai sake brewery was sitting next to me! ~$350 pp. Kogane β In the SGV area but stylish inside. Newer spot with solid flavor β menu changed between visits. ~$300 pp. Sushi Enya (Pasadena) β Long-standing, reliable. ~$200+ pp. Omakase by Osen β Discovered by chance, no reservation needed. Better than expected, nice sake selection too. ~$200+ pp. F & Bar β Not strictly Japanese; innovative cocktail-paired omakase. Left pleasantly buzzed! Location is tricky β call ahead. ~$150 pp. Gozen β First visit, private room. Service was exceptional. ~$240 pp.ππ Kodo β Chill vibe in Arts District (parking is a headache). Food was fine. ~$100+ pp. Sushi Takeda (Little Tokyo) β Smaller space. Went for the lower-tier set; food was okay. ~$150 pp. All prices above are before tax/tip. The last two I tried werenβt worth it for me, so Iβll leave them unnamed π . #OmakaseLA #JapaneseFood #MichelinLA #FineDining #SushiLovers #LAEats ππΆ
