Red Dead Redemption 2 Travelogue | New Orleans/St. Denis
Good morning, everyone! Waking up at the Mansion, we’re ready to start a new day of exploration. Today’s itinerary takes us to the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana—the inspiration behind St. Denis, the largest and most modern city in Red Dead Redemption 2. We’ll begin at Jackson Square in the northeast and head southwest, passing through the French Quarter’s Bourbon Street and Royal Street, then hop on New Orleans’ iconic streetcar to reach the Garden District. 🏛 Jackson Square This is the square facing the St. Denis hotel in the game, though the real one is larger and more spacious. The most striking feature is the equestrian statue in front of St. Louis Cathedral—immediately recognizable as the prototype for the in-game monument. To the southeast lies the Mississippi River, where you can admire the docks and riverboats. 🎷 French Quarter: Bourbon Street & Royal Street Adjacent to the square, these are the oldest streets in the city, lined with French/Spanish colonial-style buildings. The layout is compact, with restaurants, shops, and bars on the ground floor and cast-iron balconies on the upper levels—perfect for shade and relaxation. 🚋 Vintage Streetcar Ride (St. Charles Line) A truly novel experience! These streetcars retain their historic design, both inside and out. Fare is $1 (cash only—no cards!). 🌳 Garden District After a 10-minute ride, we arrive in this more spacious, luxurious, and quiet neighborhood compared to the French Quarter. The architecture here is diverse—Greek Revival, Victorian styles—with ornate balconies and oak trees still dominating the scenery. And yes, the hitching posts look exactly like the ones in the game! ⚠ Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is a notable landmark here, but it was already closed when we arrived. The above-ground tombs are a unique feature of the city’s spooky cultural heritage. 🎶 Final Thoughts New Orleans is a city where you can slow down—2-3 days is enough to explore. Enjoying jazz music, savoring delicious Creole cuisine, and trying different flavors of ice cream make for a perfect trip. For dinner, I treated myself to a meal at The Chloe, a highly recommended hotel—absolutely delightful! 😌🍷 I love this kind of virtual-meets-real-world travel—it’s like a pilgrimage for gamers! Playing games with curiosity and traveling with ideas can lead to unexpected discoveries. As for the next game and destination? Well… let’s see where National Day holiday takes me! 🎮✈ #NewOrleans #RedDeadRedemption #Louisiana #Pilgrimage
