Rhode Island One-Day Trip Plog
A fun-filled day exploring Rhode Island—eating our way through delicious eats, from savory to sweet! 🗺️🍴 📍 Jahunger (Xinjiang Cuisine) This spot is super popular for authentic Xinjiang food! We ordered two classics: Guoyou Rou Ban Mian (Sautéed Pork with Noodles) and Da Pan Ji (Spicy Braised Chicken with Potatoes) 🍜🐔. The noodles were chewy and springy—total texture goals! But the flavor was a bit too sour for our taste. The Da Pan Ji looked like a huge plate, but the portion was smaller than expected. Between two girls (one with a tiny appetite!), we finished both dishes, plus a bowl of Xinjiang yogurt 🥛. With a tip included, the total came to $67.55—definitely on the pricier side for what we got 😅. 📍 Pastiche Fine Desserts They say you “haven’t really been to Rhode Island” if you skip their fruit tarts—and we totally get why (sort of)! The weather was pretty bad that day, so there was no line (lucky us!)—we even got a slice of fruit tart (my friend had tried 4 times before and never succeeded in getting one! 🥳). We also picked up a Coconut Chocolate Angel Cake, a Banana Tart, and a Carrot Cake. Honestly? Our expectations were sky-high, so the desserts felt “just okay” overall. The custard in the fruit tart was a bit too sweet 😕. But the Carrot Cake was a total surprise! It was packed with warm spices, not the least bit greasy, and loaded with pecans 🥕🌰. The sweet-savory combo was perfect—total win for anyone who loves that flavor mix! I’m already planning to pre-order it for my birthday cake this year 🎂. P.S. The Coconut Chocolate Angel Cake had crispy coconut flakes and a light cake base, but the buttercream was almost solid (thankfully, not too sweet). My friend loved the Banana Tart, but I thought it had too much cream 🥥🍌. 📍 Los Andes (Peruvian Cuisine) This is a must-visit for Peruvian food! But we were still full from our noodle lunch, so we only ordered the “903 Testing” set to share 🥢. It came with three dishes: Fried Seafood with Taro Fries: Crispy, not greasy, and so tasty—we couldn’t stop munching on the taro fries 🦐🍟; Ceviche (Raw Seafood Salad): It tasted exactly like Thai-style ceviche—bright, tangy, and marinated in lime juice 🥥🍋; Seafood Rice: The flavor was good, but it was way too salty. If you don’t like heavy salt, skip this one! Even with small portions, it was the perfect light bite to end our food tour ✨. #DessertsHealEverything #TravelDiary #InternationalStudentLife #StudentFoodie #RhodeIslandEats #RhodeIslandTravel #ProvidenceEats #RhodeIslandFood #FoodLovers #WanderEatRepeat
