While visiting Washington DC, I took a day to explore Richmond — definitely left me wanting more! Would recommend staying overnight if you can. 🏙️ 🖼️ Top Recommendation: Virginia Museum of Fine Arts 🏛️🎨 FREE entry! Their Art Nouveau & Art Deco collection is truly special — one of the few of its kind in the US. Also stunning: French and Russian jewelry exhibitions 💎✨ — gorgeous and opulent! Allow 4-5 hours to fully enjoy this museum. 📜 Nearby: The American History Museum currently has a special exhibit on Julia Child 👩🍳 — sadly I missed it this time! Also close by: Carytown 🛍️ — a fun shopping street I passed by (the houses around there are lovely!). 🌊 River Walk: Pretty casual — not much going on commercially, but nice for a relaxed stroll. You’ll also find the American Civil War Museum nearby if you’re into history. 📖 Literural Stop: The Edgar Allan Poe Museum 🖋️🏚️ is east of downtown — small but worth a quick visit. 🍗 Food Highlight: Mama J’s Kitchen 🍗🍋 Their fried chicken is super crispy and juicy!
