Richmond VA | Ugly Dumpling — A New Chinese Spot in RVA 🥟✨

Hey friends! 👋 Went to check out the newly opened Ugly Dumpling in Willow Lawn last weekend — parking was pretty easy, which is a plus! 🚗💨 We got there around 1 PM and ended up waiting almost an hour to be seated… and it wasn’t because there were no tables 😅—there was a whole empty dining section—but because they were seriously understaffed. Since we were HANGRY 💢 after the long wait, our squad of four went all out and ordered EIGHT dishes… and finished everything in record time ⚡🍽️. With so many dishes, I won’t review each one in detail, but feel free to ask in the comments if you’re curious! Highlights 🥢: Soup Dumplings (Xiaolongbao) 🥟: Made fresh by hand—you can tell! They took a while to come out, but were served with ginger strips 👏… pretty authentic! Fried Rice 🍚: Not too oily! Both the pork chop fried rice and the chicken fried rice were flavorful. Definitely better than your average takeout spot. Would order again! Noodles 🍜: The mixed noodles were decent, though a bit salty for my taste. Verdict: ✅ Worth a try! Everything we had was at least decent, some dishes pretty good.
