Richmond VA Weekend Guide|Perfect for DMV & NC Trips

Day 1️⃣ 📍 Belle Isle Park at Belle Isle Parking Lot and cross the pedestrian suspension bridge to the island 🌉. The bridge itself is fun and recommended! However, the island is mostly shaded with limited river views 🌲. There are only portable restrooms. You can also explore an abandoned hydroelectric plant through a small opening 🏭. If short on time, just enjoy the bridge and skip the full loop. 📍 Hollywood Cemetery Stop by Rest in Pieces near the entrance—a quirky shop selling oddities 🕷️☠️. The cemetery is huge (better to drive) and offers scenic views including an overlook of the James River. Two U.S. presidents are buried here ⛰️. 📍 Chimborazo Park Features a mini Statue of Liberty 🗽 and is built on the site of a historic Civil War hospital. 🦪 Alewife A creative seafood restaurant near the park 🍽️. Limited but unique menu—tasty and worth a visit! Reservations recommended 📞. Day 2️⃣ 📍 Carytown A lively street full of shops and eateries—perfect for strolling and snacking 🛍️🍦. 📍 Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Free admission! 🖼️ Don’t miss the Fabergé eggs and the outdoor sculpture garden 🥚✨. 📍 Maymont Divided into three areas: Farm/Wildlife Trail, Mansion/Garden, and Nature Center. Note: Wildlife Trail & Mansion are closed (as of 2025) 🚧. Only the Nature Center requires a ticket. The gardens are pleasant for a relaxed walk if the weather is nice 🌷. 📍 Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden A beautiful botanical garden with seasonal displays 🌸🌿. 🚫 James River Pipeline Walkway Currently closed ⚠️. Check online for updates before visiting. #RichmondVA #WeekendGetaway #DMVtravel #NCTravel #VirginiaIsForLovers #TravelGuide #HistoricRichmond #ArtAndNature
