On the 260km drive from Agrigento to Syracuse, we broke the journey in Enna—a strategic hilltop town perched at 1,000m altitude, perfectly positioned between Sicily’s coastal gems: Palermo (west) Catania (east) Syracuse (southeast) 🌄 A Fortress City Carved by History "The Impregnable": Steep cliffs made it a medieval stronghold for Greeks, Romans, Arabs & Normans. Lombardy Castle (Castello di Lombardia): Sicily’s highest fortress, with panoramic views from its towers. Once a royal palace, later a prison—now a silent witness to centuries of conquest. 🏡 Our Stay: A Cliffside Surprise Evening arrival: Winding mountain roads led us to a cozy B&B in the historic center.
