Road Trip to Montgomery

✨We visited The National Memorial for Peace and Justice and The Legacy Museum. The third item included in the combo ticket was a boat tour on the Alabama River, but due to scheduling issues with the boat, we didn’t have time to take it. 🥰A shuttle bus connects the three attractions, but the weather was extremely hot, and waiting for the bus felt like torture. We regretted not driving ourselves between the sites. 🥰These museums come highly recommended — they offer a deep and necessary understanding of this part of history, especially for someone like me who hasn’t studied it systematically. The memorial hall, with its sobering forest of monuments, felt solemn and profound. The statues were also deeply moving. 🖼️The museum’s exhibits were highly diverse: there were recreations of slave ship scenes, virtual projections of prison cells, interactive screens, and even a simulated prison visitation setting. Together, they presented a comprehensive and emotionally rich narrative of the Black experience in America. 🩷After the visit, we passed through Birmingham and had a meal at a Chinese restaurant: Chengdu Cuisine 1550 Montgomery Hwy STE O, Hoover, AL 35216 🏨Accommodation: The Peabody Finding the parking was truly challenging. We followed the navigation to an entrance on the main street, circled around for a while to find the parking lot, and then circled again to figure out where the valet parking was located. #RoadTrip#Montgomery#Alabama#travelguide#tripdiary#Montgomeryfood#Alabamaguide
