Visit to the First White House of the Confederacy in Montgomery 🏛️
First White House of the Confederacy Located right next to the Alabama State Capitol—don’t mistake the grand, white building with the large dome for the First White House of the Confederacy 😅. The real one is actually a modest, square, two-story wooden cottage 🏠. This served as the presidential residence for Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederacy during the American Civil War 🖼️. That said, his performance as Confederate president was, to put it mildly, less than stellar 😬. The house is filled with plenty of historical objects and old photographs 📜. You can also pick up a small souvenir to take home 🛍️. Admission is free 💖, and the staff—mostly elderly volunteers—are incredibly warm and eager to share the history of the house with visitors . My guess is that they’re all unpaid volunteers dedicated to preserving this piece of history 🙏. #Montgomery#travelguide#Alabama#travelguide#Montgomeryguide
