Rocks & Waves 🌊 California's Highway 1 – 17-Mile Drive

10/6 – Finally made it to California’s Highway 1! Started from Monterey and drove to 17-Mile Drive—not far at all. Entry fee is $12.25 per car. This stretch is privately owned by the wealthy, so it was almost empty in the morning. 🚗💨 We followed the map and stopped at each marked spot—could see sea lions and elephant seals in the distance (used my VIVO phone zoom to see clearly; iPhone wouldn’t cut it 😅). The morning fog was thick, which affected the views, but we unexpectedly saw a rainbow over the ocean! 🌈🌊 A sweet surprise. After leaving 17-Mile Drive, we continued along Highway 1 toward McWay Falls, but the road was closed due to a landslide 🚧, and Seal Beach was inaccessible. So we headed back to Monterey and took a detour to Los Angeles. Since it was only 2 PM and we didn’t want to waste time, we stopped by an outlet mall near LA. Arrived at 6 PM—still had two hours to shop (closes at 8 PM). Tommy and Columbia were super affordable—great deals if you take your time browsing. 🛍️ I scored a Columbia 3-in-1 down jacket at 70% off, plus an extra 10% off—final price under $70! 🎉😍 Grabbed a quick dinner at In-N-Out 🍔 around 8 PM, then continued our journey to LA.
