🛕 Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic houses Sri Lanka's most revered national treasure, the tooth relic of Buddha Shakyamuni. Every August, the Esala Perahera festival takes place in Kandy. On the opening night, dozens of lavishly decorated elephants led by a chief elephant with a long tusk make a grand appearance. The chief elephant, adorned with exquisite embroidered fabrics from its trunk to its feet, carries a replica of the shrine containing the sacred tooth relic, and the procession allows the public to share in the glory of the tooth relic. 🚩: Sri Dalada Veediya, Kandy ⌚Opening Hours: 05:30-20:00 Puja (Prayer) Times: 05:30-07:00, 09:30-11:00, 18:30-20:00 🌊 Kandy Lake Kandy Lake is located in the same vicinity as the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
