Salt Lake City|Hidden Gem Korean Spot 🇰🇷 | Jang Soo Jang

A long-running restaurant run by an elderly Korean couple—it’s been nearly 10 years since I first visited! I was originally drawn in by their spicy seafood noodle soup and their commitment to quality. Every time I ordered it for takeout, they’d remind me to pick it up within 10 minutes so the noodles wouldn’t get soggy. Back then, their daughter-in-law handled the front; now short-staffed, the grandmother takes orders and payments while the grandfather runs the kitchen. As an introvert, I love the no-fuss, uninterrupted dining vibe 😌. If you’re waiting to order, you can just walk up to the register. 💡 Heads up: Closed Monday & Tuesday. Side dishes are not refillable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Galbi Tang (Beef Short Rib Soup) 🍖 Looks simple but is incredibly rich and nourishing—so good it’ll make your eyebrows rise! I finish the broth every time. The short rib is tender and falls off the bone. When it starts to feel heavy, a bite of kimchi balances it out perfectly. I love soaking my purple rice in the soup—any fellow broth-soaked-rice lovers out there? 🙋‍♀️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sundae Gook (Korean Blood Sausage & Pork Belly Soup) 🍲 I’ve raved about this in my Utah must-eats list! Made with sundae (blood sausage) and pork stomach, the broth is uniquely flavorful—unlike anything else around. Korean blood sausage tastes totally different from the Chinese kind—not gamey at all. Don’t be scared, just try it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cham Pong (Spicy Seafood Noodles) 🍜 Only available Wednesday–Thursday. Not sure if it’s scarcity marketing, but pre-COVID I’d have this 2–3 times a month. These days, I actually prefer the spicy seafood noodles at Paik's Noodle / Hong Kong Banjum. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Galbi Jjim (Braised Short Rib with Onion & Potato) 🥘 You can add rice cakes or udon. The sauce is on the sweet side, but pairing it with cucumber kimchi makes it delicious! The meat is tender and flavorful, though the tendon parts are a bit chewy. Even though it comes with purple rice, I couldn’t resist adding udon—carbs soaked in that savory sauce are just chef’s kiss! Tip: Simmer for 2 minutes then turn off the heat, or it’ll reduce too much and become overly sweet. ⭐️⭐️ Hot Pot The only disappointing experience in all my years coming here—mostly cabbage with just a few shreds of meat. Not recommended. #SaltLakeCity #SLCFood #SaltLakeCityEats #KoreanFood #HiddenGem #UtahEats #ComfortFood
