Salt Lake City Food | Hits & Misses 👀

On our way to Yellowstone, we spent about a day and a half in Salt Lake City. I searched up lots of food spots online but could only try a few. My partner and I both love sour & spicy flavors — he’s also into sweet & spicy. Here’s our honest take to help you decide where to eat! 🚫 Oishi Ramen Kept popping up in “best SLC food” lists, famous for supposedly having authentic Tianjin Goubuli baozi. We went for lunch — place was empty at peak hours. Turns out they don’t even serve baozi anymore — looks like they stopped long ago. I got Lanzhou noodles (came out clumped), my partner got kimchi noodles, and the skewers were burnt. Didn’t match our idea of Lanzhou noodles at all. Hope this helps you avoid this spot! ❤️ Jang Soo Jang Run by a sweet Korean elderly couple — but check hours carefully so you don’t miss out! We tried Sundae Gook (blood sausage and pork offal soup) and Galbi Tang (short rib soup) — both so flavorful and not gamey at all. Served with rice and banchan — ~$30 for two, super satisfying. Highly recommend! 💖 Gourmandise Lovely little café for afternoon tea. The Mixed Fruit Tartelette was a bit too sweet for me. The Napoleon pastry wasn’t as crispy as I like (compared to Chinese versions), but sweetness was just right. Big surprise: their Strawberry Fauxjito — so refreshing, like strawberry soda! Loved it. The Italian Cream Soda was just okay — odd flavor to me 😅 🍜 Ten Seconds Yunnan Rice Noodle Tasty — kind of like hot pot broth with rice noodles. Perfect for a quick, comforting bowl. Saw lots of people buying broth to take home — we left happy. 🥢 Foodie and Sweetie D Market Small corner spot near the Utah State Capitol. We had pan-fried buns, red oil wontons, and shrimp wonton soup — felt like street food back home. Great after sightseeing. Heads up: They’re slow right after opening — we waited a long time for our food, and one drink never came. If you have a midday flight, maybe skip — the owner did refund us though. Except for Oishi Ramen, we really enjoyed our short food tour of SLC. Hope you have a great trip, eat well, and travel safe! 🚗💨 #SaltLakeCityFood #SaltLakeCityTravel #YellowstoneFood #MyFoodDiary #Utah #SkiSLC 🏔️
