Salt Lake City Surroundings~Super Scenic Hiking Trails 🏔️🌼
Salt Lake City is surrounded by mountains. After the snow melts in June, the winter ski slopes transform into a summer hiking paradise. Think alpine meadows, snow-capped peaks, crystal lakes, vibrant wildflowers, and amazing wildlife! 🦌🐿️ Albion Basin is one of the most popular areas for wildflower viewing and hiking near Salt Lake City, with multiple trails each offering unique experiences! The drive from downtown takes about 35 minutes, including 20 minutes on winding mountain roads. Last weekend, friends and I hiked the Secret Lake Trail. Round trip from the nearest parking lot is around 3 miles, leading to a stunningly clear lake where you can spot chubby chipmunks munching on wildflowers. 🐿️💐 Swimming and boating are prohibited, but I saw anglers with fishing rods—not sure if there are fish though! Parking in the inner lot costs $12 (prices keep rising yearly!), and on weekends, arriving late might mean waiting in line. But it’s totally worth it—so, so beautiful! If you’re up for extra walking, you can park outside the fee area for free, though it adds 3 miles to reach the trailhead. While temperatures down in the valley can hit nearly 100°F, mornings in the mountains are still chilly. Bring a light jacket if you start early! 🧥❄️ Then… just enjoy the gorgeous summer! 🤩 #HikingTrails #NatureLovers #SaltLakeCity #DayTrip #WildflowerSeason #ExploreTheOutdoors #MountainViews #AdventureAwaits
