San Antonio|An Indian Buffet with Incredible Fresh Bread 🫓

Walking in, you’re greeted by vibrant red walls 🔴✨. We arrived off-peak, so the place was quiet — just a couple of tables occupied. Compared to the grand, extensive Chinese buffets around, this Indian buffet has a humble, neighborhood-canteen feel. The walls are covered with awards 🏆 — looks like this place has been around for over 20 years, with honors dating from the early 2000s to now. Food-wise, there are about three to four rows of dishes — mostly curries, meatballs, various creamy masalas, two desserts, and a salad bar. Here’s the rundown: 🍛 Highlights: ✨ Fresh Naan / Roti – Oh my goodness, SO GOOD! 🫓🔥 Crispy outside, chewy inside, topped with garlic and cilantro. Tear off a piece, scoop up some curry chicken or a meatball… instant childhood street-food vibes 😋. I thought Costco’s naan was good — this is next level. I’m coming back just for this bread (and maybe asking if I can take some to go!). ✨ Samosa (Fried Triangle) – No English labels, so guessing game! Filled with spiced potatoes and green peas, wrapped in a crispy pastry shell. The filling is soft, cumin-spiced, and savory — like a crispy, Indian-style potato taco 🌮✨. ✨ Yellow Chicken Curry – The classic Indian curry experience 🍗💛. Warm, aromatic, and comforting. ✨ Mango Pudding / Halwa – Not entirely sure what it was, but mango flavor was rich and delicious 🥭. 🤔 Less Impressive: 🍚 Rice – Hard to get into… texture and seasoning just didn’t click for me. 🥘 Some Curries – So saucy it felt like drinking soup 🥣. 🟢 Green Mint Chutney – A bit too strong and strange for my taste. Overall, it’s very carb-heavy — great for trying once, but not a regular spot for me. Located right across from Golden Wok (the dim sum spot!). Price is around $14–15 before tip. 📍 Tandoor Palace #RestaurantRecommendation #FoodieCheckIn #HiddenGemEats #SanAntonio
