San Antonio｜SA’s #1 Burger Spot: Bunz 🍔

Work lunch exploration time! 🥪 Today we checked out this burger joint downtown, voted “YourSA’s Favorite Burger” in 2022 🏆. A new colleague highly recommended it, so we had to try. ✨ Vibes & Setup The place has that classic downtown feel — industrial yet minimalist. While the decor is cool, what really matters is the food 😋. You can order two ways: line up at the counter or use the iPad kiosk beside it (great for the socially anxious!). But I’d suggest lining up — the iPad doesn’t show combo deals, so you’d have to add fries and drinks separately. The open kitchen is a nice touch — you can see them baking burger buns fresh daily 🥖👨🍳. Feels homey and reassuring about ingredient quality. ✨ The Combo We went for the basic Z Bunz combo, around $16 (pre-tip), which includes: Fries 🍟 A drink 🥤 Burger 🍔 ✨ Fry Options: Regular Fries – Cut more like wedges, decent but not mind-blowing. Good for sharing between two. Sweet Potato Fries – Free upgrade & highly recommended! 🍠 Crispy outside, soft and sweet inside — way better than most places! Chili Cheese Fries – Extra cost. Okay but not amazing — skip unless you’re really craving it. ✨ The Burger The bun was fresh-baked, and overall it was tasty… but not wow level for me. The default sauce was a bit much — tasted like ketchup mixed with heavy mayo 🍅🥪.
