San Antonio|Weekend Food Roundup

This weekend, I visited the most culturally rich city in Texas: San Antonio 🏙️. The city gives off a strong Mexican vibe — it doesn't quite feel like the U.S. I saw a post describing it as “Mexico’s luxury alternative,” which felt spot-on 😄. The must-visit spot is definitely the downtown River Walk — especially lively at night! 📸 Photos 1–5 and the text below cover our food adventures during a two-day trip, while photos 6–7 are our intense weekend travel guide 😅. 1️⃣ Hola! 📍 603 S Alamo St, San Antonio, TX 78210 A charming Spanish spot near downtown — highly recommend! We ordered the seafood paella, crab cakes, and asparagus, all delicious 🥘🦀. The paella was on the moist side, smaller than expected but packed with a variety of ingredients. The standout? A side of pan-fried pork — absolutely incredible! 🤤 2️⃣ La Panadería Bakery Café 📍 301 E Houston St, San Antonio, TX 78205 (multiple locations) This popular Mexican bakery is always buzzing 🥐🔥. You can grab pastries to go or sit down for a warm brunch. With over 5,000 Google reviews and a 4.7 rating, it’s a safe bet! We went to the downtown location at 8 AM — the dine-in line was already long 😮. Luckily, there’s a bread stand outside with no wait! We grabbed five pastries and a fresh orange juice 🧃. Favorites: pistachio concha (with pistachio cream filling), croncha (croissant + concha hybrid), and blueberry bear claw. The OJ tasted freshly squeezed — so good! 3️⃣ Historic Market Square 📍 514 W Commerce St, San Antonio, TX 78207 A vibrant Mexican market in downtown. When we visited, there were tons of food stalls — the whole street smelled amazing 🌮🎪. The fruit cup was almost identical to what I had in Mexico! 🍉🍓 4️⃣ Chaba Thai Restaurant 📍 3154 SE Military Dr, San Antonio, TX 78235 We came here purely because it’s near a must-see attraction (the mission sites). Everything was way too sweet — even savory dishes had loads of sugar 🍯😬. The mango, which should be sweet, was hard and sour. Almost $50 for such mediocre food — money could’ve been spent way better 💸🙅♀️. Google’s 4.2 rating feels generous. My advice: Don’t eat here or in this whole area — it feels remote and underwhelming. Eat in the city before visiting the missions! #SanAntonio #SanAntonioFood #SanAntonioTravel
