San Antonio | Addictively Salty Fish Fried Rice ๐๐
Tried the famous salted fish fried rice that my friends kept raving about โ finally made a weekend trip to check it out! Went around 7-8 PM โ the place was pretty empty except for one table. The decor has a cool Asian vibe, especially the wooden booth along the wall โ feels like a mini private room with some curtain added. ๐ฎ โจ Pho Noodles were perfectly cooked and not clumpy, likely blanched fresh. But maybe because it was late and they were in a hurry, the broth was only warm โ not hot โ which affected the overall experience. Taste-wise, it was okay โ not amazing, but not bad either. โจ Fried Spring Rolls A must-order for me at any pho place! Used to love Taste of Asiaโs spring rolls, but they went downhill after ownership changed. Pho Sureโs spring rolls were a pleasant surprise! ๐ฅข Though the portion was a bit small, they were super crispy and well-seasoned inside. The dipping sauce had a strong fish sauce smell, but it tasted better with some chili sauce. ๐ถ๏ธ โจ Salted Fish Fried Rice Maybe my expectations were too high, but it wasnโt mind-blowing. Still, the flavor was unique โ like a sea breeze mixed with Hubei-style salted fish (the kind we eat during Chinese New Year!). It had a bold salty and umami taste. A bit too salty for me, but worth a try if youโre curious. Definitely different from typical Yangzhou fried rice! Verdict: The spring rolls โ which I had zero expectations for โ were the best! The salted fish fried rice was interesting but salty. Not worth a special trip, but good to try if youโre nearby. ๐ Pho Sure #SanAntonioEats #Pho #VietnameseFood #SaltedFishFriedRice #FoodReview #UTSA #TexasEats
