San Antonio | Anchor Bar Wings + Trivia Night
The Buffalo-style dry rub is pretty good among the dry flavors ππ. For sides: Potato wedges > Sweet potato fries > Tater tots > Regular fries π. Overall, the lighting is dim β typical sports bar vibes, similar to Pluckers. Personally, I prefer Pluckers though. Both places can get loud, but the atmosphere there feels a bit better to me. This time, we mostly ordered fried wings and a few types of fries. The fries come in regular, tater tots, potato wedges, and sweet potato fries. Most recommended: Potato wedges π₯ β crispy outside, well-seasoned, and soft and fluffy inside. Tater tots were my pick β also tasty and super crunchy! Great if you love crispy textures, though they lack the soft, fluffy layer inside. Sweet potato fries were decent, though a bit soft this time. Still tasty β and if youβre not super hungry, go for these; the portion is a bit smaller than the wedges. Wings: I got the Buffalo dry rub β not too spicy, and the skin was crispy. A friend ordered spicy garlic sauce β spicier than expected, more heat than tang, and itβs sauced rather than dry. They host Trivia Night every Wednesday π§ π€. Winning teams get $100 / $50 / $25 gift cards! The questions are on the tougher side β covering science, movies, sports, music, etc. Itβs really fun and perfect for group hangouts β eat, drink, chat, and play along. That saidβ¦ it does get pretty loud here, so not the best place for deep conversation. #LifeInNorthAmerica #SanAntonio #AroundAustin #AroundSanAntonio #SanAntonioLife
