As everyone knows the buffalo wing originated in Buffalo New York at a place called The anchor bar and they have opened up shop here in San Antonio. I'm happy to say it was good. the service started off spotty and then our waitress didn't bring us our drinks for 20 minutes because she simply forgot about us she quickly passed us off to a perky little blond Who provided very good service we left her a $20 tip. With service squared away we ordered the garbage a tois- pronounced GAR-BAH-JJJJ AH TWAH ( you know like the three-way) it was this GUI GUI succulent fantastically HUGE platter of tots, cheese, sour cream, mini pepperoni, and fresh green onions and it was incredibly incredible- until they got cold but we're still devoured fervently!!! The house Margarita with a salted rim goes very well with these loaded little bullets of lucious tots! Be prepared as you have to order snack single double and there's a larger size but its name escapes me- anyway, for $24 we got the double size which afforded us four different sauces we got golden jerk, spicy BBQ, lemon pepper, and honey Sriracha. The golden jerk tasted like honey mustard, the spicy BBQ was not spicy at all, the honey Sriracha tasted more of honey than Sriracha, BUT THE LEMON PEPPER WERE THE FLAVOR DREAMS ARE MADE OF. I'm a little sad to report that the wings were just ok. Nothing special. This place has been made out to be "where the gods go to get their wings". FALSE. Sadly it's JUST AVERAGE. It's just OK. If I were close to a Wing Daddy's, I'd go there. I mean, you could get the same flavor hit from Domino's and Papa John's Wings if you want wings it's not a necessity to go to anchor bar. The platter of wings came with a scant amount of celery and carrots and they had blue cheese as well as ranch dipping sauce. The platter so came with a wooden salad bowl for your bones but that's about all that set it apart. I wish I could say that if you skipped Anchor Bar you would be missing something but you're not missing anything. The music was way too loud and an inattentive waitress who passes you to someone else and when they make your Margarita you can hear it throughout the restaurant and you definitely know that they're making your Margarita even though the restaurant was pretty full when we went. It's just average. if you're craving wings and in the area sure to stop by. you can get what every other wing joint has at Anchor Bar.

They have it all going on here. It's a good place to watch the game over a cold beer, or get some good chicken wings. The staff really seem confused about the food menu and how things work here though. There are four different wing sizes to order but the menu doesn't tell you how many wings come with each one (I'm going to borrow from Kay J's review and tell you what's what: Snack size (5), Single (10), Double (20) and Platter (50) thanks for that Kay - I really don't know why they don't put that on the menu). We went with the "single" which included ten wings. I won't bore you with details, but the server went back and forth between our table and the kitchen four or five times during the ordering process trying to figure out how many different sauces we could have and he also a half dozen other questions for us. Final answer: you can choose a different sauce for every five wings you order. We had the Sweet and Spicy Korean and the Honey Sriracha wings, neither one were too spicy. The wings had plenty of meat on them and they were slightly crispy (but not too crispy) as other reviews have stated. We also had the fried mac n cheese and it was good. Crunchy, ooey, gooey, cheesy goodness served with a side of the honey sriracha wing sauce. The sauce is pretty damned tasty, but if you order this, I don't recommend ordering the Honey Sriracha Wings, because it's going to be too much sweetness by the time you're done with it all. To sum it up, good food, but the servers are confused and it's also confusing because the menu doesn't tell you how many wings are included with each size order. Final tidbit: they have trivia on Wednesdays at 7pm - very annoying with a loud guy they decided to give a microphone. It's cool if you're there to hang out for the bar scene, but if you're there for dinner, it's annoying.

The food and environment was great! Me and my husband enjoyed ourselves there until we saw a server acting rude to this family. They had an infant who was upset and crying, The server was throwing their menu on the table just seeming to act like the family was such an issue to her. I watched her hit a vape device while she was also whispering to these two other girls, pointing and laughing at the family she was serving. These two other girls I don’t know if they were coworkers who were on break or just had the day off or if they were just some friends. One girl had black purple-ish hair the other looked like she was brunette. I believe the servers name was Cydney or Cindy or Sydney I couldn’t hear that well she was a light skinned girl with blonde and brown curly hair. Once the family was finished I don’t know if they left a bad tip or what, but the server ran out of the restaurant after them I didn’t see what happened outside but regardless of what did happen outside a sever acting the way she did was not right at all and left a bad taste in my mouth no managers noticed anything, and even if they did they did not correct her ways. I feel like there needs to be disciplinary actions that NEED to be taken into effect after this incident watching a young family with a very young infant being treated like this is EXTREMELY disgusting to watch and unfair to this poor family.

I would like to remain anonymous due to fearing that if I go back to this establishment that I would be treated poorly and put through what this family went through.

All of these events happened yesterday around 7-8 I would like to say I can’t recall the exact timeframe but I do remember seeing this young lady act like this yesterday evening.

Again the food was great and other than the service I would still recommend this spot it is one of mine and my husband’s favorite...
