San Antonio | Hidden Gem Chinese Noodle Spot – Shifu Noodle 🍜💫
It’s work lunch adventure time! Today we tried Shifu Noodle – an authentic Chinese restaurant near our office. I came here once last year for a friend’s birthday, and they prepared a special off-menu birthday feast 🎂… and it was absolutely incredible! Every dish was a hit. If you want something special, you can try contacting the owner in advance. Today we stuck to the regular menu – and it did not disappoint! Here’s what we ordered: ✨ Dan Dan Noodles Peanut sauce, pickled greens, minced pork, chili, and scallions – super flavorful but REALLY spicy! 🌶️🔥 Not for those who can’t handle heat. ✨ Stir-Fried Noodles A bit too mild for me. Same type of flat, wide noodles as the Dan Dan – but much less intense. ✨ Dry-Fried String Beans Really good! Lightly cooked, still crispy, not too salty. My coworker’s favorite – he insisted we try it! 🥢 ✨ Yu Xiang Rou Si (Fish-Fragrant Shredded Pork) Classic sweet and sour flavor, not very spicy. A bit Americanized but still tasty with rice. Portion was a bit small though. ✨ Spring Rolls Very crispy, but vegetarian (cabbage and carrot filling). Unless you’re into American-Chinese style, I’d skip it. 🥕🙅♀️ Eating family-style with non-Chinese friends can be interesting 😅 – they’re used to individual meals, so I ended up eating almost the entire plate of Yu Xiang Rou Si by myself! The beans and spring rolls were shared as appetizers. After lunch, we tried to go to Yuncha for bubble tea… but it was closed 🚪. My coworker said it was closed last Monday too. A sign said “Back on the 26th” – but it’s the 28th and still not open. Maybe next time! We ended up trying a Mexican sweet drink place nearby – will share that in the next post! All these spots are in the same shopping center, so you can do lunch + drinks in one go. 🧋🎉 📍 Shifu Noodle 3850 S New Braunfels Ave #109, San Antonio, TX 78223 #SanAntonioEats #ChineseFood #HiddenGem #NoodleLover #FoodieReview #TexasFood #WorkLunch
