San Antonio (2) β The Water Town of the USA π¦πΏ
San Antonio is one of the few true tourist cities in Texas. The highways circle the city in layers, and new overpasses are under construction toward Austin. The loop roads are busy, but once you enter the tourist area, it becomes much quieter and calmer. The most popular attraction in San Antonio is the River Walk. Lined with pathways, bridges, and restaurants along the riverbanks, it feels less like the "Venice of Texas" and more like a classic American water town β with arched bridges and canals reminiscent of the Jiangnan region in China.π Even strolling slowly, you can explore the heart of the River Walk in about 1 hour. Mornings by the river are peaceful and beautiful. By noon, crowds begin to gather, and by evening, itβs at its liveliest β music fills the air from every restaurant. The trees along the walkway are adorned with string lights, and their reflections shimmer on the water π. On New Yearβs Eve, a small stage on the river features drummers and DJs, with music starting from 6:30 PM to ring in the new year π. At midnight, fireworks light up the sky near the tower π. Youβll often find unhoused individuals resting on benches along the walkway (similar to parts of Austin, where many occupy public parking areas). The Alamo is a historic site β free to enter, but tickets must be reserved online in advance. If history isnβt your thing, a photo outside is enough. Inside is a small chapel with little on display.π #Texas #SanAntonio #RiverWalk #WaterTownVibes #TravelUSA ποΈππΆββοΈ
